Responsibilities of an Au Pair

As an Au Pair, your role is essential to the host family in China. You'll have the opportunity to be a teacher, playmate, and role model for their children, while also becoming a valued member of the family. Cultural exchange is a key part of this program, where you'll engage in language coaching and conversation to develop the children's language skills. You are not a nanny, but it's expected that you take care of your share of family responsibilities and contribute to light household duties.

Process of becoming an Au Pair

From the time you apply to the time you actually arrive in China is typically is about 2 months. One of our dedicated members will work with you through each step of the process to make sure things go smoothly from start to finish. Here's how it works:

Fill out the online application

Start your application here. Shortly after you've applied, a member of our team will be in touch with you and will arrange a no pressure, pre-screening interview.

Pre-screening interview and documents

One of our team members will call you to connect on your plans see if you have any initial questions about the program. You will then be provided with a more in-depth application to complete and start the process of getting a health examination and references if needed.

Matching with a host family

We will provide you with a list of potential host family profiles you can connect with one at a time until you find a good fit. Once a match is made, you and your host family will sign a placement agreement to finalize the tasks you will be undertaking during your stay and coordinating your schedule within the family.

Visa application and pre-departure

We will provide you with the required visa application materials and collect a one-time $99 visa processing fee. We will help you through the process and also start coordinating your flight booking, insurance, and arrival arrangements.

Arriving in China

We will help you get to China safely and will be there with you to provide initial training with the host family. You will then complete Au Pair program with your host family for the agreed upon duration.

Program completion

At the end of your program duration we will coordinate your return trip back home. If you want to experience more of China, we can also provide you with a visa extension to travel around China before returning home.
